Dear Parents and Families,

Thank you for your support and commitment in utilizing precautions to protect the health and safety of North East students and employees during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Together we have worked to maximize safety while ensuring in-person learning can continue.    We ask you to continue ensuring students stay home when unwell, when at school utilize hand sanitizer and hand washing, and in accordance with the provincial health mandate, wearing a mask indoors.  Beginning December 6th, additional measures found in Administrative Procedure 309 COVID-19 Vaccination, will extend to all staff, visitors, and volunteers.

As of December 6th, all employees, board members, volunteers, interns, and visiting professionals must show proof of vaccination or negative tests as a precautionary measure for the safety of our students and staff.

What does this mean for students?

This Administrative Procedure does not apply to students.

What does this mean for parents or guardians visiting schools?

If visiting the school for a brief time (dropping off a lunch for example), proof of vaccination or negative test is not required.  If interacting with staff or students beyond 15 minutes, visitors must show proof of a fully vaccinated status OR a negative COVID-19 test result.

What does this mean for volunteers?

As of December 6th, 2021, all volunteers who interact with staff or students will need either show proof of a fully vaccinated status OR a negative COVID-19 test result.

What does this mean for spectators at school events?

As of December 6th, 2021, all spectators (excluding all PK-12 students) will need either to show proof of a fully vaccinated status OR a negative COVID-19 test result.

How will NESD know someone's vaccination or testing results?

School staff will verify an individual's identity and COVID-19 vaccinations status by viewing either:

  • a card issued at time of vaccination by SaskHealth
  • a copy of the vaccination record or QR code obtained online through MySaskHealth Record
  • a letter of verification of vaccination from a doctor or pharmacist

                                 OR
School staff will verify an individual's identity and negative COVID-19 test result by viewing either:

  • Documentation of a negative test result of a rapid antigen test or a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test from a Provincial or private health lab
  • Rapid antigen testing results or a picture of testing results, dated with permanent marker as shown.

What if I don't want to disclose my vaccination status?

To access the school or transport students, volunteers or visitors will be required to show a negative COVID-19 test result.

How will my privacy be protected?

The confidentiality of personal health information will be protected in accordance with The Local Authority and Protection of Privacy Act.  Proof of vaccination records will not be kept.

Sincerely,
