Update: March 18, 2020

Dear parents and staff,

A decision was made by the education sector Response Planning team in conjunction with advice from the Chief Medical Officer of Saskatchewan, that starting Friday, March 20, all Saskatchewan school boards should pause educational operations for a one-week period. This one week away will allow the Response Planning team and individual school divisions to consider longer term plans to support students, staff and families moving forward and to plan supports to lessen the negative impact of school closure.

To achieve this, all school staff, supporting professional staff and non-essential business staff will be directed to stay home until end of day Friday, March 27.  The NESD will be focusing on our business continuity plan to ensure that core functions such as technology, payroll and building security are structured to function effectively over the coming months.

We thank you for your continued efforts and support in ensuring the needs of students, staff and families are met.

March 16, 2020

North East School Division Staff;

The Government of Saskatchewan outlined new measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The following measures are effective as of Tuesday, March 17, 2020:

  • Pre-K — Grade 12 classes will wind down Tuesday through Thursday;
  • Staff will report to work as usual until Friday March 20, 2020;
  • Risk to staff and students in Saskatchewan remains low;
  •  Effective March 20, 2020 schools will be closed indefinitely.

Between now and Friday, March 20, 2020 the North East School Division will be working with the Response and Planning Team created by the Ministry of Education to ensure that staff are cared for at this uncertain time. We expect further direction and clarification on job duties and responsibilities during the period of school closure before the end of this week.

Over the coming days our school division will work with the Ministry of Education to clarify supports or opportunities for students and staff during the time of school closure.

We know that this is a time of uncertainty for our staff. We will continue to be in contact with all employees in the coming days and weeks.
