Archers hit bullseye at National Tournament in Edmonton!

The Melfort Archery program struck gold over the weekend in Edmonton. 1800 archers converged on the city of Edmonton who hosted the 2017 National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) National Tournament. This is the third year Edmonton has hosted the tournament in conjunction with their huge Outdoor Sportsman Show. Next year, Nationals will be held in Saskatchewan.

Victory was claimed by the Maude Burke Archers for the third year in a row at Edmonton – they are officially the 2017 Gold Elementary National Champions, scoring 2730! The Melfort Comprehensive Jr. team, scoring 3212, claimed the title of Gold Champions in the Middle Years' Division. What an impressive feat for these 50 archers! Proudly ranking 5th place in the High School Category was the MUCC Sr. team.

Coaches W. Rolles, G. Wehrkamp and R. Steciuk could not be more proud of their archers. Dedication, a rigorous practice schedule and commitment to the program by the archers paid off. The coaches would like to thank the 75 archers and over 200 Melfort and area cheering squad that joined us at the Canadian National Competition. We look forward to the Provincial shoot in Melfort on April 1st
