Grade 2 May 28

May 27, 2020

Thursday, May 28th, 2020: Grade Two Daily Learning Plan

Please feel free to contact your classroom teacher through Remind with any questions.

1. ELA: Re-read Bonk, the Healthy Monster on Raz Kids. On a piece of paper, draw a line down the middle, write a list of Candy in one column and a list of Healthy food in the other. You can add items from the story as well as your own. See how many Unhealthy and Healthy food items you can think of!

2. Word Skills: Highlight the prefix. (A prefix is added to the beginning of a word to change its meaning)  Print out your list words and then underline, circle or use a highlighter to show the prefix!

Long List (prefixes: "un", "re"): unhappy, unsafe, unable, unfair, uncover, reread, rewrite, review, replace, refresh

(Bonus words: unexpected, unusual, rediscover, rearrange)

Short List (consonant blends): slip, clam, flag, blink, floss

3. Reading: your goal is to read for at least 20 minutes each day (choose any story from your books at home, EPIC or Raz-Kids)

4. MATH – Go outside, find a sidewalk or use rocks if you don't have a sidewalk.  If using a sidewalk, jump from square to square and count up by 10 each time you jump into a new square. See how high you can count! Once you finish, turn around and jump back again counting down by 10's.  If you do not have a sidewalk close; use little rocks and set them a few feet apart until you have a nice long line of them. Now, jump from the first rock and land beside the second rock; keep going while counting up by 10's. When you get to the end, turn around and jump back counting down by 10 each time. Feel free to yell your numbers out loud! Have fun.

Workbook (Jump Math)-continue to work on the next two pages (wherever you are in the workbook).

Math Facts – continue to practice using your cards (these should be automatic).
