Tuesday, May 12th: Daily Learning Plan for Grade 2

Please be sure to contact your teacher on Remind if there are any questions.
Did you BREAK THE CODE yesterday?

1. Reading. We would like you to go to the Classroom Pages on the CPES website Go to grade 2, ELA, Raz Kids. Look in the space ship called My Assignment. We would like you to listen to the story Hummingbirds. Don't forget to read the Table of Contents at the beginning and the Glossary at the end of the book.
Hummingbirds migrate to Central America or Mexico for the winter but they should be arriving back in Nipawin soon. Have you ever seen one?

We will play a game called Roll and Chat
You will take turns rolling a die and chat about the question for the Hummingbird book. Object of this game is to be the first person to answer each question.

If you roll a:
One      What is your favourite part of the book?
Two      What is your favourite illustration and what does it show?
Three   Which fact was most surprising for you?
Four     How are Hummingbirds the same or different from other birds?
Five      What else would you like to learn about Hummingbirds?
Six       Would you like to be a Hummingbird? Tell why or why not.

2. Word Skills: This week we would like you to print a question with each spelling word. Don't forget to start with an upper case letter and end with a question mark. Try to make them interesting with 7 or more words in each question.
Long List (long "o"): shadow, bowl, throw, toast, goal, soap, cold, folded, joke, remote
(Bonus words: tomorrow, uploading, hopeless)
Short List (consonant blends with "r"): frog, drip, brat, print, crib

3. Reading: your goal is to read for at least 20 minutes each day (choose any story from your books at home, EPIC or Raz-Kids)

1 Workbook-continue to work on the next two pages (wherever you are in the workbook).
2. Math facts-continue to practice using your cards (these should be automatic)
