1. Robert Munsch story Mud Puddle (the Munsch tab is in grade 2 classroom pages on CPES website) Listen to the story on classroom pages or read it yourself and see the pictures on Epic (or watch a Youtube Miss Sofie's Story Time)
Story Elements
Divide a paper into 4 sections and print the headings as shown in the example. Use words and pictures to tell about the story elements in the Mud Puddle book.

2. Word Skills: read your word list out loud (to yourself or someone in your family), and then write a sentence that uses a spelling word. Do this for at least 7 of the spelling words. Maybe you can write a sentence that has 2 spelling words in it! Underline the spelling word in the sentence.

Long List (long "a"): braid, rain, snail, plain, plane, fade, crate, today, relay, maybe
(bonus words: migrate, display, maintain)
Short List (st): fast, step, stick, test, stop

MATH
Card Game: Flip 10- Place Value
Remove kings, queens and jacks.
Place the deck of cards face down – flip over two cards - make a 2-digit number then print the number that comes before and the number after your number
Example: you flipped over a 5 and a 2, you have 5 tens and 2 ones to make the number 52      51   52   53  
Try this 4 more times. (to use 10 cards)
Challenge- keep flipping and making 2-digit numbers, then writing the number before and after, until you have used the whole deck of cards.
