Thursday, April 23th: Daily Learning Plan for Grade Two

Please be sure to contact your teacher on Remind if there are any questions.
ELA
1.   Reread Playhouse (Robert Munsch tab in gr. 2 CPES classroom pages, or EPIC or youtube)
2.   Answer the following questions for Playhouse (make sure to write your answers in complete sentences unless you are making a list).
What is the main character's name and where does she live?
List three items that Rene asked for.
Tell about Rene's personality (choose two traits only) and what information supports this (ex. Is she kind, helpful or funny? How do you know that?).
How would your ideal playhouse be different from Rene's? Write about (at least) two differences you would have.

If you have time: Word Skills: practice printing your list words. EPIC/Raz-kids-choose a story to read or listen to.

MATH
Card Game: Sum War
Remove kings and jacks (ace=1, queen=0, all other cards are face value ex. 7=7), shuffle deck and split the entire deck evenly, each player turns over two cards, adds the numbers together and says out loud the sum of their two cards, the player who has the biggest sum, wins, and takes all the cards turned over and adds to his/her pile, play until cards run out or for a specific amount of time. Variation: play using subtraction instead.

Math facts- using any of your flashcards (that you've already made in the past few weeks), shuffle your cards and practice these facts. Challenge yourself: choose any 10 flashcards and time yourself to see how long it takes you to get all 10 correct. Try it again, using different flashcards. How fast can you be? Which facts do you still need to practice? Remember: all of these facts should be almost automatic.

Workbook-continue to work on the next two pages (wherever you are in the workbook).
