Scholarships to Graduates of Bjorkdale School

1.  Bjorkdale School Reunion Bursary - non-academic; contributes to school spirit.

2.  English Award - Top mark in English 30.

3.  Math Award - Top mark as an average of Math 30A, B and C.

4.  Science Award - Top mark from an average of two of the three science 30 level courses offered (Biology 30, Physics 30 and Chemistry 30).

5.  History Award - Awarded to a student in grade 12 with the highest mark in history/social studies.

6.  Earl Van Blaricom $300 x eight awards in the school division - recipients are selected on the basis of scholarship, ability, character and need; applicant must attend the University of Saskatchewan; application is made through the University; recipients are selected by the University.

7.  Pasquia Health District Scholarship Program - two scholarship programs to encourage individuals to enter into educational programs which will help them gain entrance into health care employment opportunties.    The first program is an open scholarship for residents of the district and the second is for Aboriginal students.  PHD will pay up to $1000 tuition for a student who successfully completes a recognized health care program.   For more information, including application forms, call 1-800-704-8395 or 873-3100.

Scholarships to Graduates of Carrot River High School

SCHOLARSHIPS:  NOTE DEADLINES! (These are general scholarships which many of our students can apply for. There are many other specialized scholarships which you may be able to apply for, depending on your circumstances.)

1.      Knights of Columbus Scholarships (Gr. 12 or 1st year post-secondary within 2 years following graduation)

·        3 @ $500.00

·        For first year university, technical or other post-secondary program approved by the selection committee.

·        Based on school & community involvement, career goals, church involvement, and need. 

2.      Kelsey Trail Health Region (Grad or Past Grad)

·        2 @$1000.00

·        Will pay a maximum of $1000.00 towards tuition for 2 students who successfully complete a recognized health care program (medicine, nursing, LPN, Special Care Aid, Administration, Medical Records, CCT, Lab or X-Ray, etc.)

·        Based on community involvement, financial need, academic standing.

·        Must be a resident of Kelsey Trail Health Region.

·        There are also 2 Aboriginal Scholarships of $1000.00 each for applicants of aboriginal ancestry.

·        Application forms are available in the Health Region Office of Pineview Lodge, Nipawin.

·        Deadline:  Jan. 31st

3.      Oddfellow & Rebekah Bursaries

·        6 @ $500.00 province wide.

·        Do not have to have a connection with Oddfellows or Rebekahs.

·        Must have at least 75% average.

·        Based on financial assistance and students deemed most worthy.

·        Must be used in year it is awarded.

·        Deadline: Feb. 28th.

4.      Masonic Youth Trust Award

5.      Nipawin District Services to the Handicapped Bursary (Grads & Past Grads)

7.      Nipawin Health Care Auxiliary Bursaries (Grads & Past Grads)

·        Must be entering a health related field (not Arts & Science) such as Medical Lab Tech., Medical Radiology Tech., Degree or Diploma Nursing, Physical or Occupational Therapy, Home Care/Special Care Aide, EMT or other medical course. If taking a year of Arts & Science first, may apply once you register in a health related field.

·        Based on references, extra-curricular involvement, and financial need.

8.      Royal Canadian Legion Bursaries

·        12 bursaries @ $300.00 (Provincial level).

·        Must be son/daughter or grandson/granddaughter or great grandson/great granddaughter of Veterans, Ex-Service or still serving Military or R.C.M.P. personnel.

11.  Motorcycle Enthusiasts Scholarship

·        Must be going on to post-secondary.

13.  Saskatchewan Health Bursaries

·        For students studying health professions that are in short supply, such as Nurses, Pharmacists, Audiologists, Public Health Inspectors, Physical, Occupational and Respiratory Therapists, etc.

·        In exchange, students agree to work in Saskatchewan’s publicly funded health system after graduation.

14.  SaskTel Scholarship

·        11 @ $3000.00

·        Must be taking a degree, diploma or certificate program directly related to telecommunications.  This includes Engineering, Computer Science, Business/Administration/Commerce.

·        Minimum 75% average, resume, and covering letter.

·        Deadline:  Sept. 1st

15.  SGI Corporate Scholarship Program

·        2 @ $2500.00

·        One to student in university and one to technical institute.

·        Must be enrolled in a program related to the business needs of SGI (Accounting, Auto Trades, Business, Commerce, Info. Tech., Nursing, Office Admin., Social Work, Vocational Rehabilitation, etc.)

·        Based on contributions to community, extra-curricular activities or commitments made in balancing work, education and home.

·        Must not have received any other scholarships.

16.  Saskatchewan Golf Association

·        6 available

·        Must be a member of Sask. Golf Assoc., be going on to post-secondary and have a minimum 80% average.

17.  Curl Saskatchewan

·        2 @ $500.00

·        Must be going on to post-secondary and provide confirmation from their curling club or high school that they have curled and/or coached in a junior, high school, or adult curling program in the previous 24 months.

21.      Forest Hetland Award in Business

·        Must be pursuing post secondary education in the area of business.  The award is given to a student who has demonstrated an interest in business/marketing/international commerce.

22.    Sask. Assoc. of Student Council Advisors Scholarship for Outstanding Student Leadership.

·        12 @ $2400 ($600/yr. for 4 years)

·        Must be from an agricultural or forestry family and going on to post-secondary in one of these areas.

25.      Bill Kehler Memorial Awards

·        4 @ $2500.00

·        Must be going on to post-secondary in Broadcasting or Agriculture.

26.      Diamond North Credit Union Scholarship

·        1 @ $500.00

·        Must be a current Gr. 12 student at CRHS and going on to post-secondary education.  Award may be claimed up to 16 months from the date the scholarship is announced.

·        Based on Scholastic Achievement, School and Community Involvement and Leadership, and Involvement in a Family Business/Agriculture related field.

·        Requires one letter of reference and a 500 word essay.

27.      A. E. Blakeney SaskTel Bursary

·        1 @ $40000 ($10000/year for 4 years)

·        Must be in need of financial assistance, have a graduating average of 80% or greater, and be going on to post-secondary education at the U of R, U of S, or First Nations University of Canada.

·          Preference given to those enrolled in Business/Commerce/Administration with major in Marketing or Accounting, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.

·        Preference to visible minorities, women in non-traditional roles, people with disabilities or Aboriginal people.

·        Deadline:  June 23 

28.        Saskatchewan Teacher’s Federation Scholarships

·        10 @ $1000 (5 for first year students and 5 for continuing students)

·        Must be the dependent of a member of the STF (actively teaching or retired)

·        Chosen by random draw.

·        Deadline:  March 31 (must arrive by mail by then).  

 AUTOMATIC AWARDS:  Students do not apply for these awards.  They are determined by marks or by nominations from staff and are presented at Graduation.

1.  Academic Proficiency Awards for 30-Level Subjects

  • $250.00 each
  • Given in Math, History, French, English, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Law (every other year) and Work Experience (2).
  • Must have been a student at CRHS for at least two years.
  • Must have taken the subject at each level available in Division IV.
  • Must have the highest average in that subject currently.

2.  Carrot River Young Women’s Club Scholarship

  • $300.00
  • Presented to the female graduate with the highest graduation average
  • Must be going on to post-secondary education.

3.  Dean Anderson Memorial Lion’s Club Scholarship

  • $300.00
  • Presented to the male graduate with the highest graduation average.
  • Must be going on to post-secondary education.

4.  Jordan River Ladies Community Club Scholarship

  • $100.00
  • Presented to a “deserving Gr. 12 graduate going on to further education in the technical or vocational field. 

5.  W. A. Gulka Scholarship

  • $100.00
  • Presented to a graduate going on to further their education in the field of teaching.

6.  Town of Carrot River Citizenship Scholarship

  • $400.00
  • Must have taken their entire Gr. 12 year at CRHS
  • Must have made a meaningful contribution to the school (Student government, yearbook, drama, volunteer work, etc.)
  • Must have participated in some school or community event.
  • Must be courteous, sportsmanlike, and receptive to discipline.
  • Must enjoy a sound reputation with classmates, teachers, and community.
  • Must be in the top 60% of their class, academically.
  • The selection Committee shall be composed of the Administrators of CRHS and the Guidance Counselor, in consultation with the Div. IV Staff.

7.  Ag Vision Scholarships

  • 2 @ $1000.00
  • Presented to students going on to further their education in Agriculture.
  • If no students meet this criterion, the scholarships will go to students who come from an agricultural background, have a positive attitude, have made some contribution to their high school, are in the top 25% of their class academically and are going on to post-secondary education next year.

8.  Sask. Government General Proficiency Award

  • 5 at $400.00
  • Presented to the 5 students from L. P. Miller, William Mason and Carrot River High Schools who have the highest graduating averages that year.

 

Scholarships to Graduates of Tisdale Middle & Secondary School

Qualifications

In order to qualify for a scholarship from the TMSS Scholarship Fund, a student must:

-   Be a graduate from TMSS and have attended his/her complete final semester at this facility
-  Meet the academic achievement requirements for scholarship (70%)
-  Complete and submit an application to the TMSS Scholarship Committee by the June 15, 1999 deadline
-  Attend a recognized post-secondary institute
-  Have obtained the equivalent of 24 (U of S) class credits or successfully completed 80% of one full year of study at a recognized post secondary institution within twenty-six months of his/her June graduation
-  Have the institution submit to the Chairperson of the TMSS Scholarship Committee an official post secondary transcript verifying the completion of the required class credit equivalents in the area designated by the applicable scholarship

Averages

Averages are calculated using the final marks achieved in the following subjects:  English A30, English B30, Canadian Studies 30, 1 level 30 math, 1 level 30 science, 1 other course numbered 30, 35, 36.   In the case where a Departmental final is required, the teacher-assigned mark shall be used in calculating the average except where final marks are available for all students in which case the Department marks will be used.

Payment of Scholarships

Recipients will be announced at the graduation ceremonies in June.  Monies will be awarded upon receipt of an official transcript from a recognized post secondary institute.  Where the scholarship dictates a student must be enrolled in a specific college, the transcript must reflect this information.  Transcripts must reflect the equivalent of 24 (U of S) credit hours and must be received by the committee within two calendar years of high school graduation.  Funds will be held in trust until verification of the transcripts.   Unclaimed monies shall remain in the TMSS Scholarship Fund.  Transcripts should be forwarded to:  Chairperson, TMSS Scholarship Committee, Box 1000, Tisdale, Sk. S0E 1T0.

Description of Scholarships

1.  Boyd and Elsie Hamilton Scholarship $2000 - highest academic standing.

2.  Abner and Margaret Hamilton, Samuel and Elizabeth Boyd Scholarship $1500 - second highest academic standing

3.  Vi Woodkey Memorial Scholarship $1250 - third highest academic standing

4.  Academic Achievement Scholarships - 17 scholarships will be awarded to students ranking 4th to 20th highest averages.  The amounts are as follows:  fourth $1000; fifth $800; sixth to tenth $500; eleventh to twentieth $300.

5.  Mary Hellofs Scholarship $1000 - may pursue studies in any post secondary area; must have a grade 12 average of 80% or higher; must be in need of financial assistance.

6.  Harley S. Ranson Scholarship $1000 - must pursue studies in engineering or in a related science oriented field; must enroll in a minimum two year program; must be in need of financial assistance.

7.  Hazel Esther Ranson Scholarship $1000 - must pursue studies in engineering or in a related science oriented field; must enroll in a minimum two-year program; must be in need of financial assistance.

8.  Warren Ballard Memorial Scholarship $300 - must pursue studies in Fine Arts or; studies relating to the automotive industry or; studies relating to a career in the medical field.

9.  Kevin Keays Memorial Scholarship "I Earn My Own Way" $300 - must pursue studies in the College of Engineering; must show dedication to education; must show respect to educators and fellow students.

10.  Lyle Fettes Memorial Scholarship $300 - must pursue studies in the area of agriculture; preference will be given to students enrolled in Agricultural Parts Management.

11.  Pasquia Health District Scholarship Program - two scholarship programs to encourage individuals to enter into educational programs which will help them gain entrance into health care employment opportunties. The first program is an open scholarship for residents of the district and the second is for Aboriginal students. Description of Awards

The TMSS Scholarship Fund also presents four awards at graduation.  Applications are not required and there is no post secondary attendance requirement.

1.  TMSS Spirit Award $200 - will be awarded to a student who has served the school, has demonstrated great respect for others and has strived to be a good student.

2.  Outstanding Effort Award $200 - will be awarded to a student showing great improvement in scholastic success and maturity during his/her high school years.

3.  Dwayne Brownridge Memorial Award Female Athletic Award $250 - will be awarded to a female graduate deserving recognition for involvement, excellence and sportsmanship during her high school years.

    Dwayne Brownridge Memorial Award Male Athletic Award $250 - will be awarded to a male graduate deserving recognition for involvement, excellence and sportsmanship during his high school years.

1.  Governor General Bronze Medal as outlined by policy.

2.  Beeland Coop $100 to student enrolled in a technical school.
