Reynolds School has had some changes to their parking lot over the summer that will affect pick up and drop off. 

To maximize safety, the parking lot is now designed to be ONE WAY and will be angle parking only. 

The entrance is now located just on the west side of the crosswalk. Because of this, it is recommended that when you are entering the parking lot for pick up/drop off, that you turn onto Hatton Ave from the west (Alberta St) to avoid a left hand turn going through the crosswalk. 

Please note that there is a NO PARKING area in the parking lot directly in front of the crosswalk. This has always been there, but is not always followed. Again, this is a safety measure and will be enforced. 

Thank you for the attention paid to these changes. We are confident that once everyone is aware of the process, it will increase our students’ safety!

Dear NESD Families,

We wish to keep you informed of the ongoing negotiations between the NESD and CUPE Local 4875.  CUPE Local 4875 represents educational support workers such as Educational Associates, Caretakers, Bus Drivers, Outreach Workers, School Administrative Assistants, Food Services, Library, Maintenance, and IT staff in the majority of our communities in the North East.

CUPE 4875 recently announced that that they have voted in favor of a strike mandate should a deal not be reached between the two sides.   Bargaining started in October of 2022.   In March 2023 an impasse was reached, and both sides agreed to appoint a mediator from the Ministry of Labour Relations to assist with the negotiations.   Both sides have continued to meet with the mediator to help reach an agreement.   Future bargaining dates have been established.

In the event of job action, our schools might experience disruptions. In some instances, a strike might lead to temporary school closures. It is important to note, not all NESD schools have CUPE members in the roles shared above (see linked school roles).

Our priority in the NESD is to ensure that all families are well-informed to prepare for any potential changes to our schools’ regular schedules. We are committed to providing timely notifications through emails, text messages and Edsby regarding any job action announcements. Updates will also be posted on our website, Edsby, and social media platforms.

We understand that uncertainty in your child's school creates challenges for you and we will do our best to keep you updated.  For any further inquiries or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our Division Office. Statement From North East School Division - December 19, 2023

CUPE 4875 recently announced that that they have voted in favor of a strike mandate should a deal not be reached. Bargaining started in October of 2022. In March 2023 an impasse was reached, and a mediator from the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety was appointed to assist with the negotiations. Both sides have continued to meet with the mediator to help reach an agreement. Future bargaining dates have been established and active negotiations are ongoing.

The North East School Division (NESD) will continue to work towards a successful conclusion in bargaining with CUPE. Currently, negotiations are centered on wages, with the NESD providing a competitive offer to CUPE 4875 that is within our funding capabilities and among the highest in wage settlements across School Divisions in the province.

The NESD appreciates the hard work and dedication of our exceptional staff, inclusive of our CUPE members and eagerly anticipates our continued progress together.

Happy New Year! As we embark on a fresh start in 2024, I would like to extend a heartfelt welcome back to all our students, families, and staff. The beginning of a new year is always a time of excitement and anticipation, and we are thrilled to see what this year will bring for our school communities. It is our continuous privilege to be a part of your children's educational journey. 

I wish to keep you informed of the ongoing negotiations between the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) and the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee. You may know that discussions reached a point of impasse, which may lead to job action by teachers across the province.  STF members include teachers, consultants, coordinators, psychologists, vice-principals, and principals. 

To help facilitate a resolution, a conciliation board was established at the request of the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation (STF), comprising an individual representing the STF, a representative from the Government-Trustee Committee, and an independent Chairperson. The conciliation board met on December 5, 6, 7, 11, and 12 to assist the parties in reaching a new collective agreement, however an agreement was not reached. 

The NESD Board and senior administration respect the rights of our teaching professionals, including their right to collective bargaining. It is important for you to know that NESD is not directly involved in the bargaining process. This process is handled at the provincial level by the Provincial Bargaining Committee. 

In the event of teacher job action, our schools might experience disruptions such as cancelled extracurricular activities, limited noon-hour supervision, and potential strikes that could range from half-day to full-day durations.  A general strike will lead to temporary school closures. 

I recognize that these times can be unsettling, and I want to assure you that we are committed to finding collaborative solutions during any times of disruptions, ensuring that student safety and wellbeing are at the forefront of our decision-making.  Additionally, please know that we are committed to keeping you well-informed to prepare for any potential changes to our schools’ regular schedule, providing timely notifications through emails, text messages, Edsby, and the NESD website and social media.

On January 11th, it was announced by the STF that a provincewide strike will occur on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. This strike will involve all STF members, who will be withdrawing from both professional and voluntary services for the entire day.

Consequently, the North East School Division (NESD) will be taking the following actions on January 16, 2024:

• All schools will be closed.
• All extracurricular activities, including practices, games, tournaments, drama, music activities, and school clubs, will be canceled.

We fully respect the collective bargaining rights of our NESD employees and acknowledge that additional job actions may occur in the future. The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation has announced additional job action. 

A rotating one-day strike will occur on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

This strike will NOT involve STF members in the North East.  Therefore, NESD school schedules will remain unchanged.

STF News Release

North East School Division and CUPE 4875 are pleased to announce that a tentative agreement has been reached.

After months of negotiations, both parties have come to an agreement that addresses their needs and concerns while also supporting the continued success of our schools.

Key highlights of the agreement include wage increases of 3%, 3.5%, and 3.5% over three years.

“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with CUPE 4875 that acknowledges the invaluable contributions of education support workers of the North East School Division,” said Heather Shwetz, Superintendent of Human Resources and Privacy Officer, North East School Division. “This agreement reflects our shared commitment to fostering a supportive and equitable workplace environment.”

“This agreement recognizes the essential contributions of education support workers and moves us closer to pay equity with other school divisions,” said Debbie Dufault, president of CUPE 4875. “We look forward to working together with North East School Division to build a bright future for our students.”

CUPE members voted in favour of the tentative agreement on February 1. It is expected that the school division will ratify the agreement at their meeting on February 13.

Moving forward, both North East School Division and CUPE 4875 are committed to open communication, mutual respect, and ongoing collaboration to support the well-being of employees and the advancement of shared goals.

Please be advised that all NESD schools will return to regularly scheduled times.  The STF is suspending the provincewide withdrawal of noon-hour supervision that was scheduled for Thursday, February 8, 2024.  All school schedules and end of day bus routes will return to regularly scheduled times.

Practices will run Monday's and Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm. (Days and times are subject to change depending on coach availability. Changes will be made if necessary prior to start of season.) Season will run beginning of May (pending field conditions) to June 26th.

Taking place every two years and alternating between summer and winter, the Saskatchewan Games provide an opportunity for our province's developing athletes, coaches, and officials to experience an exciting and inclusive multi-sport event and serve as a springboard to higher levels of competition, including the Canada Games and North American Indigenous Games

Currently, negotiations are centered on wages, with the NESD providing a competitive offer to CUPE 4875 that is within our funding capabilities and among the highest in wage settlements across School Divisions in the province.

Dear NESD Families, 

Happy New Year! As we embark on a fresh start in 2024, I would like to extend a heartfelt welcome back to all our students, families, and staff. The beginning of a new year is always a time of excitement and anticipation, and we are thrilled to see what this year will bring for our school communities. It is our continuous privilege to be a part of your children's educational journey. 

I wish to keep you informed of the ongoing negotiations between the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) and the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee. You may know that discussions reached a point of impasse, which may lead to job action by teachers across the province.  STF members include teachers, consultants, coordinators, psychologists, vice-principals, and principals. 

To help facilitate a resolution, a conciliation board was established at the request of the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation (STF), comprising an individual representing the STF, a representative from the Government-Trustee Committee, and an independent Chairperson. The conciliation board met on December 5, 6, 7, 11, and 12 to assist the parties in reaching a new collective agreement, however an agreement was not reached. 

The NESD Board and senior administration respect the rights of our teaching professionals, including their right to collective bargaining. It is important for you to know that NESD is not directly involved in the bargaining process. This process is handled at the provincial level by the Provincial Bargaining Committee. 

In the event of teacher job action, our schools might experience disruptions such as cancelled extracurricular activities, limited noon-hour supervision, and potential strikes that could range from half-day to full-day durations.  A general strike will lead to temporary school closures. 

I recognize that these times can be unsettling, and I want to assure you that we are committed to finding collaborative solutions during any times of disruptions, ensuring that student safety and wellbeing are at the forefront of our decision-making.  Additionally, please know that we are committed to keeping you well-informed to prepare for any potential changes to our schools’ regular schedule, providing timely notifications through emails, text messages, Edsby, and the NESD website and social media.

We wish to inform you that the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) is actively involved in ongoing contract negotiations with the Government Trustee Bargaining Committee. On January 11th, it was announced by the STF that a provincewide strike will occur on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. This strike will involve all STF members, who will be withdrawing from both professional and voluntary services for the entire day.

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation has announced additional job action. 

A rotating one-day strike will occur on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

This strike will NOT involve STF members in the North East.  Therefore, NESD school schedules will remain unchanged.

STF News Release

North East School Division and CUPE 4875 are pleased to announce that a tentative agreement has been reached.

After months of negotiations, both parties have come to an agreement that addresses their needs and concerns while also supporting the continued success of our schools.

Key highlights of the agreement include wage increases of 3%, 3.5%, and 3.5% over three years.

“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with CUPE 4875 that acknowledges the invaluable contributions of education support workers of the North East School Division,” said Heather Shwetz, Superintendent of Human Resources and Privacy Officer, North East School Division. “This agreement reflects our shared commitment to fostering a supportive and equitable workplace environment.”

“This agreement recognizes the essential contributions of education support workers and moves us closer to pay equity with other school divisions,” said Debbie Dufault, president of CUPE 4875. “We look forward to working together with North East School Division to build a bright future for our students.”

CUPE members voted in favour of the tentative agreement on February 1. It is expected that the school division will ratify the agreement at their meeting on February 13.

Moving forward, both North East School Division and CUPE 4875 are committed to open communication, mutual respect, and ongoing collaboration to support the well-being of employees and the advancement of shared goals.

Please be advised that all NESD schools will return to regularly scheduled times.  The STF is suspending the provincewide withdrawal of noon-hour supervision that was scheduled for Thursday, February 8, 2024.  All school schedules and end of day bus routes will return to regularly scheduled times.

2024 Outdoor Registration for Tisdale Soccer Club is now open. Deadline to register is April 6.

Practices will run Monday's and Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm. (Days and times are subject to change depending on coach availability. Changes will be made if necessary prior to start of season.) Season will run beginning of May (pending field conditions) to June 26th.
